Acrobatic Arts

Acrobatic Dance is a fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics; often defined by it's unique choreography acrobatic dance blends seamlessly with classical dance styles such as jazz, modern, contemporary and lyrical.

It is important to note that acro dance is not the same as gymnastics and there is a need to teach acro skills differently to gymnastics. Dance training is essential to the success of an acro dancer and therefore children 9 years and above are required to take at least one RAD ballet or ISTD modern class a week (ideally ballet). This is also strongly recommended for younger children to help improve strength, flexibilty and alignment.

The curriculum is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of Acro Dance- flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling. Acro dance was developed with the input from professionals and experts in ballet, modern dance, jazz, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, sports acrobats, yoga, acro yoga, pilates and physiotheraphy.
